Sodium Bicarbonate is used to treat heartburn and acid indigestion.
Sodium bicarbonate acts as a systemic alkalizer, increasing plasma bicarbonate levels, buffering excess hydrogen ion concentration, and raising blood pH to reverse the clinical manifestations of acidosis. It also serves as a urinary alkalizer, enhancing the excretion of free bicarbonate ions in urine, thus elevating urinary pH.
